R&B singer Miguel is on fire right now, holding down the top spot on Urban and Urban Adult Contemporary radio with his hit single “Adorn.”

The rising superstar recently kicked off his promotional tour for his sophomore album, Kaleidoscope Dream, with a show at the historic Howard Theatre in Washington, D.C.

Before taking the stage R&B sensation, Bobby Valentino opened with a six-song set performing a few of his old hits, as well as Lil Wayne’s “Mrs. Officer” and Jamie Foxx’s “Blame It (On the Alcohol).”

Miguel calmly walked onstage to an electric applause. He was sporting his signature blowout hair style and a surprisingly subtle outfit.

As the house lights lifted the stage was illuminated, showing a live band and colorful lighting.

While witnessing Miguel’s abundance of talent onstage as he performed his old and new tracks, there is one mathematical equation that came to mind: Prince’s vocals, the rockstar appeal of Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Usher’s smooth energy. All that combined equals the new Miguel.

“Tell me that p—– is mine” is the intro to one of the new cuts. Hands down the racy lyrics made that performance the most shocking moment of the night. It had a lot of ladies in the audience screaming “it’s yours!”

Whether that song will flood the radio is up for debate, but it will certainly have the ladies a little hot-and-bothered at first listen.

The “All I Want is You” singer then moved onto a song that he delivered with emotion that made the crowd go wild with its rock/go-go beat.

Of course he ended the night with a performance of the new album’s lead single, “Adorn.” His smooth tone and high energy while singing an extended version of the bridge made it easy to sum it all up with one word: flawless.

Overall, Miguel delivered a great music showcase of his new rock/soul/funk sound. Listen to some of Kaleidoscope Dream below.
