Romeo Miller won’t just take any job

Romeo Miller doesn’t just take every role that comes his way, and that may be one secret to the actor’s longevity in the entertainment industry.

“For me, I know when I’ve found the right movie when I’m reading the script,” he told Sister 2 Sister. “The first thing is the character they want me to play. What’s his struggle? What do I want to relay to the audience.”

Romeo starred in his own Nickelodeon series and more recently co-starred in Jumping the Broom, but he said his favorite role was in Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Witness Protection, which is available on DVD on Tuesday, Oct. 23.

“This is my favorite character. He has a lot of depth. He goes from A to Z," he explained about his character’s transformation during the film. "This is more in the Denzel [Washington] or Will [Smith] lane."

Romeo’s also selective about the acting jobs he takes on because he knows people are looking up to him.

“I’m the oldest of three kids. I’ve always felt that ‘role model’ title. I always try to make the right decision and that carried on in my career,” said Romeo, who raised a few eyebrows when he decided to enter college.

“People asked, ‘Why did you go to college? You could have done more seasons of your show.’ God gives you talent, celebrity and fame. I try to be as positive as I can be. I want to help give back. My decisions with my career, I have my brother and sister in mind,” he explained.

Madea’s Witness Protection is now available on DVD and Blu-ray.
