Whitney Houston’s sister-in-law, Pat Houston, attempted to clear up the confusion about whether Bobbi Kristina Brown is or ever was really engaged.
“When she filmed that she thought she was, of course. She thought she was engaged when she first filmed that,” said Pat, referring to a scene in the Lifetime series “The Houstons: On Our Own,” in which Bobbi announces that she and Nick are getting married.
Though the two are still dating and are often spotted on the scene hand in hand, Pat said they aren’t planning a wedding, and they are not engaged now; but they were.
“At that particular time, she was engaged. I never took it serious, and I was never really concerned about the engagement. Her announcing it to everyone, I’m like, ‘Wow. Okay,’” Pat told “Access Hollywood.”
Bobbi, who once considered Nick more of a brother than lover, said Whitney wouldn’t have an issue with their romance. Rumors suggest that Whitney’s mom, Cissy Houston, doesn’t like how their relationship has evolved. Pat said if Whitney were around, it wouldn’t be an issue at all.
“In knowing Whitney and knowing Bobbi Kristina and Nicholas, if she were here, they wouldn’t have even thought about a relationship together,” said Pat, who suggested the two are just coping with their loss.
“That’s all it was for me: them leaning on one another through tough times because they were the closest to each other, so that’s what they gravitated to,” said Pat. “You’ll see what happens.”
