Miguel was so excited to get in the studio with Beyoncé that he didn’t believe the good news at first!

There’s no denying that Miguel is a talented vocalist with the ability to create a hit that connects with listeners ("Adorn," anyone?), but when called on by Beyoncé, he wasn’t sure he heard correctly.

"I just got word that I’ll be in [the studio] with Beyoncé tomorrow which is amazing," Miguel told MTV. "I heard it from my team, and I was like, ‘Are you serious? Are you sure? Are we talking about the Beyoncé?’"

He had to double and triple confirm the gig before he allowed himself to get too hyped. Now he can’t wait to see what they create in the studio. "I‘m excited to hear the direction of her new material, and hopefully come up with something that’s really special and really showcases her perspective," Miguel explained. "I think being a part of someone else’s creative process is all about having your surf board ready and just ready to ride that wave."

The Kaleidoscope Dream crooner is open to anything that Beyoncé wants to do, and he expects that there will be a lot of possibilities. He’s ready to explore those options with her. "I don’t really know what she sees for herself or what direction she’d like to go with this album and I think that’s the exciting part about it," Miguel said.

One thing he knew they would be able to understand in each other is work ethic. He commends the "Dance for You" diva and new mom for her passion to create phenomenal music. "She’s definitely the most dominant female [artist]—dedicated and driven," he stated. "I’m such a huge fan. So, it’s gonna be really cool."
