Cynthia Bailey, hubby writing relationship book

Many doubted her marriage would survive one year, but not only is Cynthia Bailey still wed, she and her hubby are feeling secure enough in their marriage to start offering relationship advice.

“The whole reason we decided to do the book is because we are a couple that got together later in life. At that point usually, you have a lot of baggage with you,” said Cynthia, who’s expecting the relationship book to be available by Valentine’s Day 2013.

Cynthia said dating in one’s “grown and sexy” phase is different than finding love at 20.

“People don’t usually change up in their late 40s. It’s kind of ‘what you see is what you get,’ as opposed to getting married when you’re younger, and a little more open to things. So, it’s just kind of a different struggle to go through. We felt like a lot of people could relate to our story,” she said.

Though she and Peter did not meet on the Web, Cynthia, 35, thinks that and similar sites make it easier for singles in their 40s and 50s to meet.

According to, people over 50 make up the site’s “fastest-growing segment of users.”

“Real Housewives of Atlanta” fans know that Cynthia and hubby Peter Thomas don’t always see eye to eye, but she said they can come up with solutions that satisfy them both. Those different points of view and how they reach compromise will be something they address in the book, titled Baggage Claim.

“It was interesting working with Peter because the book was really all about his perspective and my perspective. Even though we’ve been together for like five years and I know him and I love him, we really kinda saw—even how we got together—very differently,” she said. “When I tell you how we got together, it’s going to be totally different from how he would tell you that we got together. So, that’s really how our relationship is. He may see green, and I may see purple, but we still always get to that common place.”

Cynthia discussed her marriage with S2S Publisher Jamie Foster Brown in 2011. Watch.
