Porsha Stewart was a fan of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” before joining the cast, but that’s not to suggest she was ready for the drama.
“I don’t think you can ever prepare yourself for reality television. The main thing I told myself is that I just wanted to be me and be true to myself and own everything that I’m going to portray on the show,” said Porsha, who admitted she was still shocked whenever the ladies ended up arguing.
“It definitely had its tense moments that I didn’t know was about to happen. Every time there was an intense moment, it was a surprise to me,” she laughed.
Porsha enters the scene when episode 3 of season 5 airs Sunday. Although previews suggest things quickly go left, Porsha said she was able to focus on something positive before the drama came.
“I have a foundation and it’s called The Key to Giving, and in the beginning of the season I hold a big charity event and I invite powerful women of Atlanta. So, through that event, I ended up meeting and being introduced to some of them. Some of them I built a relationship with. Some it didn’t work out, but that is how I entered the group,” she explained.
Porsha wouldn’t go into detail about which castmate it “didn’t work out” with, but she did pledge her allegiance to a few co-stars.
“I still talk to NeNe [Leakes] and Cynthia [Bailey],” she shared. Battle lines have already been drawn between Cynthia and newbie Kenya Moore, but Porsha was reluctant to pick sides.
“I’m so Team Porsha,” she said. “I’m still getting to know everybody, and I don’t throw the word ‘friend’ around loosely.”
Though the self-described “sweet person” said she gets along with most people, don’t expect her to get run over by her co-stars who may seem a little more ruthless.
“I don’t start drama, but if drama comes to me, I will definitely end it,” she said.
