Kenan Thompson has been a regular on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” for years, but the comedian may soon be getting his own show.
The actor, whose fans grew up with him when he starred on Nickelodeon’s “Kenan and Kel,” has entered into a deal with NBC to star in a sitcom.
“The single-camera comedy would star Thompson as Kenan Monroe, a guy who gives up his New York life and moves to his in-laws’ house in the suburbs, where he must contend with three generations of problems,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Lorne Michaels, who currently works on “Up All Night” and “30 Rock,” will produce the series.
There’s no word yet on whether Kenan will be leaving “SNL.”
“Kenan and Kel” fans are already buzzing about a cameo appearance from Kenan’s former co-star Kel Mitchell.
