Despite her affiliation with numerous men in the hip-hop industry, Karrine Steffans said she has a special connection to Lil Wayne.
“Wayne has been in my life this whole time,” Karrine told VibeVixen.com after describing her one failed marriage and the most recent union that’s “really just for show.”
Karrine, who gained national notoriety as the author of Confessions of a Video Vixen, said her first marriage—to former “Family Matters” star Darius McCrary—was “tumultuous.” However, she is still in touch with Darius who she “can’t shake.”
While those relationships weren’t fulfilling for Karrine, she said Lil Wayne makes her happy and their friendship is one of the most enduring she’s experienced.
“Wayne and I have kept a relationship through my two husbands, his three kids, three additional babymamas, three of his albums, three of my books, three of his arrests, one year in prison and three engagements on his part. We are indestructible and I find it fascinating,” she said. “I’m in constant contact with this person every day, every other day. He is a part of my being.”
Wayne is reportedly still in a romantic relationship with Dhea Sodano. There’s even been speculation that the two are engaged. However, that apparently hasn’t interrupted his years-long friendship with Karrine who said their bond is not about the physical.
“That relationship is everything to me, but it’s not what people think it is. It’s not sexual and it’s not financial. It is very spiritual and he’s like my battery pack. When I’m down, when I’m in a really rough space, he always pulls me out of that,” said Karrine who admitted Weezy’s recent health issues shook her.
“My whole body started shaking because I didn’t know what happened yet. I had to go online and read it because no one was getting back to me right away, of course,” explained Karrine who said she just started crying.
“I got one message back from him and he said, ‘Babe, I’m OK.’ Everyday after that we’ve been a little closer.”
