Amar’e Stoudemire avoided all the celebrity wedding fanfare by having a secret ceremony yesterday!
12.12.12 was a good day for love!
The New York Daily News reports that the NBA player married his babymama Alexis Welch in a very private rooftop ceremony on Wednesday evening.
The pair, who have three kids together, tied the knot at sunset on the top floor of their Jane St. apartment in New York. Amar’e and Alexis stuck with the 12 theme as only 12 guests attended the intimate wedding in honor of their big day.
“They decided to do this because of the date, and they wanted to do something spiritual and private for themselves,” one insider told the Daily News. Not much is known about the ceremony itself, but another source said the happy couple wed under “a beautiful Jewish chupah” and their kids were party of the wedding.
Reportedly, Alexis wore a fitted, custom-made gown with no train, while Amar’e stood at the altar in a Calvin Klein suit. Almost as soon as they said "I do," Alexis changed her handle on Instagram to AlexisAStoudemire.
Shortly after that, Amar’e announced the nuptials to the world by posting a shot of their wedding rings to Twitter. The caption read, "12.12.12 now has a special & spiritual meaning for us."
This is only the first wedding for Alexis and Amar’e, who are planning a much more lavish affair for the summer!
Congratulations to the NBA newlyweds!
