Taye Diggs said The Best Man sequel is moving forward as everyone tries to coordinate their schedules.
Just before he announced the nominees for The SAG Awards, Taye dished that Best Man fans should not be disappointed with the follow-up film. "It’s good. A lot of laughs, a few tears," Taye told HipHollywood.com. "I’m definitely part of the cast. I hope so; I’m the best man!"
But there’s still one minor problem to work around before filming can begin: Time! "We’re trying to work out everybody’s schedules, but it’s slated to go up. Now we’re just ironing out a few kinks," Taye said.
According to the actor, director Malcolm D. Lee is determined to get the entire original cast together for the sequel. He’s so committed to the idea, in fact, that production may not begin until everyone is available.
"I know that Malcolm wanted to wait until the script was just right, and he didn’t want to do it unless everyone could be part of it," Taye said. "We’re all excited to get the gang back together."
Getting back to the matter at hand, though, Taye was proud to announce that both Alfre Woodard and Denzel Washington are up for SAG Awards this cycle.
"It’s nice to see African-American actors and actresses stepping up their work to the point where they can’t be denied," said Taye. "I feel in a lot of situations that we have to take control for ourself. If we give performances that cannot be denied, then we’re definitely doing our part."
