When it comes to the question of who’s responsible for the “Basketball Wives: L.A.” spin-off becoming a reality, Tami Roman votes for Shaunie O’Neal.
“In all honestly, everything starts with an idea, especially when you’re talking about television shows, and the idea was Shaunie’s,” Tami told HipHollywood.com.
On Part 1 of the “Basketball Wives: L.A.” season 2 reunion, Gloria Govan Barnes credited herself and sister Laura Govan with having launched the spin-off.
“Let’s not get it twisted. I’m the reason why there’s a spin-off. Gloria came to L.A., with my sister, and we started ‘Basketball Wives: L.A.,’” Gloria said.
So far, Evelyn Lozada, Brooke Bailey and now Tami Roman have all spoken up to give Shaunie the credit.
“I just need to make something CLEAR! It is because of @ShaunieONeal creating BBW Miami, Shed Media & @VH1 that there is a ‘SPIN-OFF,” Evelyn tweeted in defense of BFF Shaunie.
Though Gloria was first introduced on the Miami version of “Basketball Wives” before reality TV cameras caught up with her in L.A., her franchise counterparts continue to give the props to Shaunie, who is the Executive Producer of the series.
Brooke admitted that having the sisters as part of the first cast likely helped the series expand to another city, but Tami pointed out that there still would be no “Basketball Wives” without Shaunie.
“Anything that develops from that still came from the original, and there can only be one original,” said Tami.

Do the Govans have a legitimate argument, or should they stop giving themselves credit for "BBW:LA"? Post your feedback below.
