After years of blaming Bobby Brown for Whitney Houston’s struggle with drugs, her fans finally get a confession from one of the iconic singer’s closest relatives.

“I let it go too far,” admitted Whitney’s brother Michael who said he first introduced his little sister to drugs.

“I have my own demons to live with, and I feel responsible for her, always have, always…and I just felt like I should have took better care of her,” he told Oprah Winfrey during an “Oprah’s Next Chapter” episode.

Michael, sitting next to mother Cissy Houston, explained that the entertainment industry of the early ‘80s made it easy for him and Whitney to experiment with drugs. As his little sister, much of what he did, she emulated.

“Being together most of the time and her following behind me… I taught her to drive. We played together. Everything that you do together as you’re growing up and then when you get into drugs, you do that together too, and it just got out of hand,” he said.

While he couldn’t pinpoint the exact moment when Whitney first tried drugs, he believes he was right there when she first used.

Oprah pointed out that many Whitney fans blamed her ex-husband Bobby for her drug use, especially after the controversial airing of Bravo’s reality series “Being Bobby Brown,” but Michael clarified that the “Saving All My Love” singer was already using when she met the New Edition crooner.

For his part in her demise, Michael said he’ll have to live with that for the rest of his life. He reasoned that during that era, people didn’t realize how addictive and destructive drugs could be.

“We didn’t know,” said Michael who is still struggling to adjust to life without Whitney. “I’m living, but I’m not alive without her.”
