DJ Envy came clean to his listeners about having an affair during another on-air confession session.
Last week, Erica Mena admitted that she and DJ Envy had a thing going on before he apologized to his wife during a broadcast of “The Breakfast Club” earlier this year. Without naming her specifically, the radio personality admitted that he had been unfaithful to his wife.
“It’s a difficult thing to do. Sometimes being married it makes you insecure dude. I looked like I had everything,” Envy said. “It was scary, my wife is gorgeous. She might need somebody that’s smarter than me. It made me insecure.”
He continued that feeling like he wasn’t good enough for his wife led him to start an extramarital relationship with someone that he deemed to be low-class. With being insecure, with me being weak. I was so insecure and so down..I started messing with somebody that was beneath me. A bird. Evil. A liar. Somebody that was desperate and it’s just so pathetic,” he stated. “I mean I didn’t have to feed this person. I didn’t have to make her feel special, because she wasn’t. So that’s what it was.”
Instead of tearing his family apart, however, the radio personality revealed that this trial has actually served to forge a deeper bond in his marriage and beyond that his family. “With the help of God, this situation has made my family tighter. Like tighter. I’m honest. I had to be honest with myself,” Envy shared. “The hardest thing I had to do was tell my wife EVERYTHING. When I say everything. She looked at me so different.”
And in line with that assessment, the DJ revealed that his marriage is still in tact. But if he’s being honest, he admitted that he and Gia still have a lot more work to do to get their union back to a good place.
“So you guys follow me on twitter. We’re good. We’re not great. I don’t know what happens from here,” he said, adding that it’s not a given that he and Gia will remain married. “Now if we remain together, as a relationship, we’ll see. But as a family, nobody’s stopping us. I just want to tell you ‘I love you. And we’ll see what God has in store for us.’”
