Not so long ago, rumors swirled suggesting that Jennifer Hudson was discouraged by her fiance’s decision to put his law degree aside and focus on wrestling.
The accomplished singer and actress reportedly wanted her man to have an equally successful career, and he may be on his way if his role alongside Oscar winner Halle Berry is any indication.
“Not many people can say in their first film, they shared screen time with an Academy Award winner,” he told “Access Hollywood.”
David co-stars with Halle in The Call, which opens March 15. The film centers around a 911 operator who decides to hunt down a serial killer. David plays Officer Jake Devans and the reality TV vet shadowed real officers to prep for the role.
Despite the law degree, David said he’s always wanted to be an actor, and that’s likely what drove him to VH1’s “I Love New York,” where he was better known as “Punk.”
“This has been a dream come true of mine: to act. I’ve always wanted to be an actor, even when I was a kid, before WWE; my first love was acting,” said David.
Of course David is no stranger to working with Academy Award winners. Although he hasn’t starred with one before, he’s engaged to Jennifer, who is busy shooting her own film: Black Nativity.
