Siovaughn Funches sat down with Dr. Phil to share her side of the custody battle with her ex-husband Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat.
“Dr. Phil” featured Siovaughn, the ex-wife of Miami Heat star Dwayne Wade, on his show yesterday. Interestingly enough, the show was themed “ex-wives seeking justice.”
She told Dr. Phil that D.Wade’s celebrity possibly influenced the judge to rule in favor of the NBA baller, winning full custody of their two sons in 2011. Siovaughn said, “I went into that place hoping to get help for my children…but I found judges in the courtroom quoting statistics for Mr. Wade. They would speak about him as if they were introducing the starting lineup for a basketball game.”
She feels that since she has less star-power and access to media professionals than her ex, her image was misinterpreted. “When you’re able to pay someone that amount a month to plant your stories…,” she said while trailing off.
Recently, D.Wade’s ex-wife has filed documents accusing him of failing to provide the children with medication for their asthma. She is now looking for a court to order Wade to be more attentive to their sons.
Siovaughn also wants Dwyane to be prosecuted for visitation abuse. She claims that he is “continuously and willfully making every effort to alienate the children from [her].”
