Kandi Burruss didn’t need to look any further than her pool of co-stars when looking to hire a lawyer in music lawsuit against Kim Zolciak.

    Kandi Burrss wants her money!

The resident musical genius of “Real Housewives of Atlanta”  is suing Kim Zolciak over their song “Tardy For The Party.” Fans of show that Kandi turned the song into a major hit for the dubiously talented Kim during season 2 of the show. Putting er best writers and producers at Kim’s disposal, Kandi turned what was once a song penned by her daughter Brielle into viral smash for “RHOA.”

However, Kim never actually thanked Kandi by giving her a fair cut of the profits from the song, having only given Kandi a total of $4,000 for her transformation of “Tardy For The Party.” Kandi hasn’t really pressed the issue of payment until now, though!

According to the Atlanta  Journal-Constitution, Kandi filed suit against Kim in the United States District Court of the Northern District of Georgia on Tuesday. Court documents state that Kandi is seeking “damages for copyright infringement due to Defendants’ unauthorized and unlawful licensing, distribution and sale of Plaintiffs’ creative works, namely a sound recording embodying a performance of a musical composition entitled ‘Tardy for the Party.’”

Simply put, Kandi and her co-author has performed the song without their consent and they want the full amount of what their owed from the song’s total earnings, since it is legally their property.

Kim, who has a writing credit on the song, has remained pretty quiet on the matter for the past three years, but she took a subliminal shot at Kandi online, tweeting, “People will do anything for publicity! So funny yet so sad!”

But just who will be representing the business savvy entreprenuer in the court room? WetPaint.com reports that Kandi has hired Phaedra Parks, who has also worked with Bobby Brown, to be her lawyer in the case against her former friend.
