When season 6 of “The Game” premieres on March 26, fans will be challenged to grow with the series. The BET show’s focus has shifted from Melanie (Tia Mowry-Hardrict) and Derwin (Pooch Hall) to new lead characters. The show will focus on Bryce “The Blueprint” Westbrook (Jay Ellis), the #1 draft pick and the Saber’s new star player, and former child star Keira Whitaker (Lauren London), who is trying to find herself as an adult actress and Hollywood socialite.
We asked long time “The Game” cast member Barry Floyd, who plays Terrence “Tee-Tee” Carter, if he had any concerns about the show’s ability to hold its audience with new stars in season 6.
“I’m personally not concerned, as long as people are willing to give Jay and Lauren a chance. It is going to be different but it’s still going to be good,” Barry told S2S. “There are some people who are just going to be turned off by the fact that they’re not Pooch and Tia. But I think if they’re willing to see what they have to bring to the table, I think they’ll be happy with it.”
Barry said both new leads bring their own uniqueness to the show. “Those are a couple of good actors and the characters that are written for them are good strong characters.”
All characters have to start somewhere, and these new cast members are no different. “On episode 1, you didn’t know who anybody was,” Barry added. “You had to give all the characters a chance to grow and a chance for you to connect to them. So if people give Jay and Lauren that same a chance, I think they’ll continue to love the show the same way they always did.”
As for Barry’s character Tee-Tee, viewers will see that he’s grown into quite the businessman. “The Cluck Truck business has grown. He’s got a fleet of trucks, he wrote a book and they’re really portraying him as a professional this year.”
