Laz Alonso wants ‘Jumping the Broom’ sequel

Laz_Alonso.jpgLaz Alonso, co-star of the 2011 movie Jumping the Broom, already knows exactly what he’d like to see happen should the film get a sequel.

“She should be pregnant. She should be on her ninth month,” he said about his on-screen wife, Sabrina, who was played by Paula Patton. “She should be pregnant and now we’ll be dealing with all that kind of stuff.”

The original film, which showcased the differences between blue collar and white collar Black families, was set in scenic Martha’s Vineyard, the summer residence of the well-to-do Watsons.

Laz suggested a change of venue for the proposed sequel. “We should be in Brooklyn this time, at Loretta Devine’s and Mike Epps’ neighborhood,” he said.

No matter the locale, Laz believes audiences would like to see out how things have evolved with his character, Jason, and Sabrina.

“It’s a story that I feel needs to be told,” he said.
