Kenya: “I’m tired of going to everybody else’s event and feeling out of place.”
It didn’t take long for Kenya to mend the rift between her and Cynthia Bailey after their episode 1 drama, but her issues with Porsha Stewart persist, and climaxed at Kenya’s costume gala honoring Black women in film.
Two episodes ago, viewers watched Kenya dole out costume assignments to her co-stars. NeNe Leakes was to dress up as Grace Jones in Boomerang. Grace’s co-star Eartha Kitt was depicted by Phaedra Parks, who channeled the actress’ Cat Woman persona. Cynthia Bailey arrived as Diana Ross in Mahogany. Singer Kandi Burruss showed up as Tina Turner in What’s Love Got to Do With It, which she pointed out is really Angela Bassett. Though not all the women wanted to follow Kenya’s specific instructions, they did…all except Porsha, who was asked to come as Halle Berry in B.A.P.S. and chose to dress up as Dorothy Dandridge, instead.
To Porsha’s credit, she did originally intend to arrive as the B.A.P.S. character and tried on several different outfits, one complete with a gold tooth, but Porsha’s friends talked her into ditching that idea. Also, to Porsha’s credit: She’s a grown woman and can choose to dress herself anyway she likes. Kenya doesn’t have to agree and she didn’t.
After months of being married to planning her party and creating skits based on her co-stars’ characters, Kenya flew off the handle – or in her case, twirled “gone with the wind” control – when she realized that Porsha had decided to go glam, instead of ghetto.
The former Miss USA responded by trying to toss Porsha out of the party. While she didn’t have her bodyguards with her at Kandi’s housewarming party. Kenya did have security guards at her gala, and two large men escorted Kordell and Porsha out.
In a show of solidarity, the other ladies who were there, at that point Kandi and Cynthia, decided to leave the party, too. Though Cynthia and Kenya become closer, Cynthia made it clear that she thought Kenya was doing the most.
“To kick you out is not cool,” said Cynthia. “It’s not that deep.”
Outside the event, Kenya is confronted by her co-stars and their husbands about her behavior and once again, Kordell, interjects himself in female drama.
“I’m already talking to one bitch. Now, I’m talking to two,” she said.
