Are Khloé Kardashian and Lamar Odom cheating cancer patients out of donations? ESPN recently ran a report, examining more than 100 charities associated with celebrity athletes.

Among them was Lamar’s charity, Cathy’s Kids, which was named for his mother who died of stomach cancer. The charity is supposed to benefit cancer-related causes. Despite raising about $2.2 million since it launched in 2004, ESPN claims that eight years of tax returns show that Cathy’s Kids has not given any money to benefit the cause that it set out to help.

Supposedly, the charity has gone to fund two top-tier youth traveling basketball AAU teams with $1.3 million. In addition, Lamar’s high school basketball coach Jerry DeGregorio is reportedly the only executive from Cathy’s Kids to get paid. As the organization’s secretary, he made a median income of $72,000 while the charity lost money. According to ESPN, Cathy’s Kids is now $256,000 in the red.

RadarOnline.com reports that when Lamar was asked about allegations of mismanaging the charity’s funds, he supposedly said, “It’s my money.” Now, KhloKhloé has come forward to clarify her hubby’s comments, telling TMZ that his response was not inaccurate because Lamar personally donated “more than 90% of the money raised by the foundation.”

Not only that, but giving money to the youth teams was still operating within the purpose of Lamar’s charity. “Cathy’s Kids was formed with several purposes in mind, including benefitting underprivileged youth and cancer research,” Khloe said in a statement. “A decision was ultimately made that the charity should focus on one of those purposes — to help enrich the lives of underprivileged inner-city youth. It accomplished that goal.”

When looking at in this context, Khloé argues that Cathy’s Kids is doing exactly what it set out to do and that none of the money was misspent.

“All of the funds donated by Lamar and the other contributions to Cathy’s Kids were used for one of the foundation’s intended charitable purposes,” Khloé said. “Not one penny went to help Lamar personally or any member of his family. No charitable funds were misused, and the IRS has repeatedly given Cathy’s Kids a clean bill of health, confirming that there were no improprieties.”

In the wake of the controversial news,  it appears that Khloe and Lamar have yanked their latest eBay auction for Cathy’s Kids. The pair were selling items from their personal collection to benefit the  organization. Among the items up for bid were old clothes including and one of Khloe’s “pre-owned” sports bras.
