Jay-Z starts Roc Nation Sports
Jay-Z is stretching his Roc Nation empire into the sports arena. ESPN reports that Hov has started Roc Nation Sports, which aims to represent professional athletes.
“Because of my love of sports,” Jay explained in a statement, “it was a natural progression to form a company where we can help top athletes in various sports the same way we have been helping artists in the music industry for years.”
Jay-Z, who plans on becoming a certified sports agent in baseball, has already signed Robinson Cano of the New York Yankees to Roc Nation Sports. With the “PSA” rapper also setting his sights on becoming a certified agent in basketball and football, there’s chatter that Hov already has an NFL player lined up as his prospective second client.
If Jay wants to become a basketball agent, though, he’ll have to give up his minority share of the Brooklyn Nets.
