We’ve all heard Jada Pinkett-Smith speak on how much she embraces individuality, whether it has to do with herself, or the way she raises her children, but it seems that she takes that philosophy along with her when it comes to her marriage vows as well.
Like many celebrity couples, Will and Jada have gone through their share of rumors, but the rumor about their open marriage seems to be the most persistent. The “HawthoRNe” actress discussed the rumor in a recent interview with HuffPost Live, and here’s what she had to say:
“I think that people get that idea because Will and I are very relaxed with one another, and I think from how I’ve answered questions of, ‘Girl, what would you do if he came home, [with another woman],’ or ‘Being married to a big superstar like Will, how do you deal with other women?’ And my answer is I’ve always told Will, you can do whatever you want, as long as you can look at yourself in the mirror and be okay,” she said.
The mother of two went on to say that Will is his own man and she can’t make his personal decisions for him.
“I’m here as his partner, but Will is his own man. He has to decide who he wants to be, and that’s not for me to do for him. Or vice versa,” she said.
Although Jada said she doesn’t think it’s easy to be married to anyone, the couple will be celebrating 16 years of marriage this December.
“I think that you have to go into a relationship knowing; especially when you’re dedicating yourself to someone for the rest of your life, this is a life partnership,” she said.
