Tyler respects the talent enthralled in Orlando and believes he will fill the big woman’s shoes just fine, BET reports.
“The character has been such a gift and it was my hope and intention to play this role again in the upcoming film. But due to my commitments to the exciting new venture I am launching with OWN and Discovery Communications, I must now put all my energy into our new slate of shows that will launch on the network later this year,” Tyler said.
Tyler‘s two new shows, “Love Thy Neighbor” and “The Haves and the Have Nots” premiere in late May on Oprah’s network.
The “MADtv” standout will make his first Madea appearance in A Madea Christmas which will be released in theaters this December.
Orlando recently tweeted, “TRULY HUMBLED to share this exciting news about my new project. Thanks to @tylerperry for giving me this shot.”
While he received a few expressions of congratulations, Orlando wasn’t shy about retweeting all of the negativity thrown his way after news began to spread about his new role. Fans either wanted the Madea phase to end, or they shared confusion about the change of character.
