Good things come to those who wait, and that couldn’t be more true for the happy couple that’s famous for appearing in a battery of Tyler Perry productions.
“When we got married 25 years ago, we didn’t have enough money for a wedding,” Tamela told Us Weekly. The “Take Me To The King” singer recalled that she and David even had to borrow rings when they got hitched in her pastor’s office in 1988.
Now that they have a bigger budget, Tamela wanted something spectacular and that started with her bridal gown. Tamela said that she spent months designing her wedding dress Binzario Couture. It was time well spent for Tamela who had a major wow moment when seeing herself in the custom-made look.
“I knew every intimate detail of it, but when I saw it at my final fitting last week, I lost it,” said Tamela. “It was everything I could have ever dreamed of in a bridal gown.”
That sense of magic was fitting for the vibe of the wedding.“We wanted a fairytale wedding, so we picked an enchanted forest theme,” Tamela shared.“We hosted everyone at the Joule Hotel because it had the feel we were trying to create — old-world romantic, beautiful, chic and lush — and a place everyone would love.”
The wedding wasn’t all about the bride, though. The couple made sure that their fantastic venue “had space for a dance floor, which if you know David, was something we had to have!”
Tamela and David weren’t the only stars on their big day because they shared their big day with the grandkids by including them in the ceremony. The happy couple’s high school friend Kirk Franklin and his wife were also on hand for the celebration.
