Aretha Franklin cancels shows
The Queen of Soul has been again been sidelined because of her health. Aretha Franklin’s camp announced on her official Facebook page that she’s had to cancel two upcoming shows “due to her doctor’s recommendation for treatment.”
Aretha was supposed to perform at Members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra on May 20 to celebrate the 24th Annual Corporate Night. Janelle Monáe will be filling in for the diva that night. However, Aretha was also supposed to do a gig at Foxwoods Casino later this month.
This is not the first time that Aretha has had to put her health before her career. In late 2010, she had to take a break from the stage to get treatment for a pain that she told “Access Hollywood” was “so hard it almost brought me to my knees.” Although there were reports that the pain was due to pancreatic cancer, the singer said that was not the case.
Aretha’s camp didn’t specify what medical condition she will be seeking treatment for this time, but S2S wishes the Queen of Soul a speedy recovery.
