Woman get herpes from RiRi Woo sample?
One woman is making very good case for why you should test lipstick on your hand at the beauty counter. A woman named Starkeema Greenridge is suing MAC Cosmetics because she claims that she contracted herpes after sampling RiRi Woo lipstick at Rihanna’s show at the Barclay’s Center.
In court documents, Starkeema said that a MAC employee put some of lipstick from a used tube on her lips and instructed her to smear it around on her lips. “The MAC artist didn’t use a fresh or new lipstick tube, but rather one that had been used for other patrons,” the suit states.
Days later, Starkeema noticed that her lips were “irritated and hugely swollen,” and when she went to a doctor she was diagnosed with herpes. “I wasn’t able to work for two weeks,” “It cost me a lot of money. This is going to happen over and over again if nothing is done.”
Starkeema is now seeking an undisclosed amount from MAC Cosmetics to include her lost wages. The cosmetics company has responded, stating, “Consumer safety is a top priority at MAC Cosmetics, and we take these matters very seriously. We are closely reviewing these claims.”
