Plenty of people are still steaming about Zoe Saldana playing the soul singer in the upcoming flick Nina. But that’s only the biggest concern of many. Nina’s daughter Simone has hinted that the film itself may not be as true-to-life as producers would have viewers believe.
Hopefully, Nina’s fans will be a little happier to hear that “Awkward Black Girl” creator and star Issa will take on the role of the soul siren in an “unconventional biopic” about Lorraine. Shadow And Act reports that Issa will play Nina in A Raisin In The Sun.
Lorraine will be played by the grandniece Taya Hanesberry in A Raisin In The Sun, which is se to be directed by Numa Perrier. Fans of Black and Sexy TV will recognize Numa as the star of its hit series The Couple.
While some major Online Hollywood players will be featured in the film, Jaleel White will be adding a little more star power to the project by playing Lorraine’s confidant James Baldwin.
