Robin Thicke addresses Justin Timberlake beef
Robin Thicke doesn’t harbor any ill will for Justin Timberlake. In fact, he thinks JT has helped bring his sound to wider audience.
“He actually helped me a lot because his sound went more R&B, more soulful, and that’s what I’ve been doing my whole career,” Robin told Hot 97 this week.
Despite the similarities in their music, Robin thinks it makes sense given that their upbringings were not that different. “The thing is, him and I grew up with a lot of the same influences. Michael Jackson, Prince era, a lot of Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder,” he reasoned before making another observation. “And we’re both White kids that grew up in the hip hop generation. I think it’s natural that we’re going to have some similarities.”
But if people are really looking for the dapper crooners to bite each other’s style, Robin did drop an interesting tidbit. “I just made a new record with Timbaland last week,” he said. “Leave some room for me at the top, Justin.”
