Although they were disappointed, most African Americans admit they weren’t surprised by the George Zimmerman verdict of “not guilty;’ however, many were shocked and taken aback by the seemingly insensitive remarks made by George’s attorneys after the trial ended.
While it’s understandable that George’s counselors were relieved and even happy for him, many were stunned by their apparent anger toward the media, Trayvon Martin supporters and a justice system that would dare to put George on trial for shooting an unarmed Black teen.
Even though expressions of sympathy were extended to Trayvon’s surviving family members, the smugness of Mark O’Mara and Don West overshadowed any sliver of compassion they showed to toward Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin.
It’s possible Mark and Don were just oblivious to how insensitive and insulting their remarks were. So, in an effort to enlighten them and others who may not understand, here’s a look at some of the more offensive comments they offered after their “justice” was served.
