Mark is right. If Trayvon Martin did “lash out” at George Zimmerman, we don’t know, without a shadow of a doubt, exactly why. However, it’s not a stretch of the imagination to conclude that after being followed by a stranger, who may or may not have confronted him with physical violence, Trayvon felt he had to defend himself.
Of course, it’s clear why George’s attorneys wouldn’t concede that Trayvon was acting in self-defense. That would make him equally as “not guilty” as George, since Trayvon has as much right to stand his ground as George did.
