Sunday marks the one-year anniversary of Kile’s untimely death following a jet-ski accident on Lake Lanier in Georgia, and it’s also an important milestone for the camp Tameka started in Kile’s memory.
Tameka told Sister 2 Sister that the camp she established in his honor is wrapping up its 2013 season with a finale performance tonight.
“We’re doing the Kamp Kile’s World summer finale. The kids show everything they learned in the camp. We’re doing a little showcase, a performance for their parents,” explained Tameka whose two-week camp welcomes children and teens ages 10 to 17.
The purpose of the camp is to offer education in the arts with workshops and general instruction available in the areas of “acting, singing, dance, painting, illustration, music production and digital media,” according to the Kile’s World Foundation site.
“Some of these kids, we were building their self-esteem to help them break out of their shyness or their lack of confidence. That’s super, super, uber important,” said Tameka.
As for the reality show, Tameka, the ex-wife of R&B crooner Usher, said she has spoken to VH1 about the possibility of a “Hollywood Exes” spinoff based in Atlanta, but nothing is definite yet.
“The reality-show thing is questionable. I did speak to VH1 about the show but nothing has been confirmed as of yet,” she said.
