Tamar Braxton is too amazed by her new son to be terribly concerned with how much people think she loves him.
Tamar got people talking last month when she said that she didn’t immediately fall in love with her baby boy Logan Vincent Herbert. The backlash didn’t come as much of surprise to Tamar, who told S2S, “It was completely taken out of context, but isn’t everything I say?”
The “Love & War” singer suffered a little bit of a maternal backlash following her statements, but she didn’t feel the need to clarify what she meant. “You know, some people get and some people don’t,” Tamar said. “What I’ve learned along the way is that you can’t go to each person and explain yourself. And I refuse to do that.”
She added, “You can think whatever you want to think. I love my son; I feel blessed to have him in my life and that’s it.”
Tamar shared that while she did love Logan right off, she was still reeling from the shock of finally getting to meet her baby. “Of course you love your child, but no one talks about the initial shock, and that’s what happened to me,” Tamar shared. “I was shocked. I was shocked for at least three days. Like, ‘Oh, my God! I’m a mother, this is my baby. I can’t believe this is the person that’s been swimming inside of me for 9 months.'”
She continued, “It’s not love, it’s shock–but you love them.”
The big thing for Tamar was that baby Logan is the product of the love that she and hubby Vincent Herbert have shared for about a decade. “Vince and I have been together for 10 years and this is something that’s come out of our 10-year relationship. It’s amazing,” she explained.
No one can argue now, though, that Tamar isn’t completely head-over-heels with her new little man. She doesn’t want to miss a second with her son! “He just went down [for a nap]. I’m so sad. I hate it when he goes to sleep. Isn’t that selfish of me?” Tamar told us with a laugh when we caught up with her.
The new working mom, who just began her new show “The Real” last week, sounded completely relaxed during our chat. That’s no easy trick considering she has two reality shows (“Braxton Famliy Values” and “Tamar & Vince”), a talk show, an album and a new baby.
That would be a lot for most people to handle, but Tamar is taking it all in stride. “It’s five things that I absolutely love to do, so it doesn’t seem like I’m overwhelmed,” she said. “I’m having a ball.”
