Usher Raymond is thankful to the heroes who saved his 5-year-old son from drowning in a pool accident Tuesday.
“I am blessed and fortunate to say that my son Usher V is doing well and is recovering,” Usher said via a statement to ABC News.
On Tuesday, the toddler was rushed to a hospital in Atlanta after he jumped into the pool to retrieve a toy and ended up with his arm caught in the pool’s drain. The incident was even more frightening considering that Usher and his ex-wife Tameka Raymond lost a son, Kile Glover, a little more than a year ago.
Fans, celebrities, family and friends all sent the Raymond family love and support while Usher V gained strength at the hospital.
“I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of prayers, love and support for my family’s well-being,” said Usher, whose aunt was supervising Usher V at the time of the accident.
She attempted to save him, as did a housekeeper, but two men working at the home at the time, actually saved Usher V.
“I would especially like to thank the two men who saved my son’s life, Eugene Stachurski and Ben Crews. They are true heroes and I am deeply grateful to them,” Usher said.
In the aftermath of the near-drowning, Tameka is seeking full custody of both of her sons. According to reports, Tameka is accusing the R&B crooner of “negligence and failure to properly supervise the minor child.”
Insiders report to Sister 2 Sister that Usher V should be heading home on Friday.
