Tia Mowry addresses ‘insulting’ pregnancy reports

TiaMowryFPSS_2What do Beyoncé, Cynthia Bailey, Meagan Good and Tia Mowry-Hardrict all have in common? Other than being beautiful, talented Black women, they’ve all been victims of baby bump rumors.

Meagan was the most recent celebrity to deal with pregnancy gossip that started after she admittedly ate too much pizza.

While some women exude a radiant glow when they’re expecting, “Instant Mom” actress Tia clarified that it’s not exactly a compliment when the public suggests you’re carrying a child in your body when you’re not.

“Being told you have a baby bump when you work out is a pretty big insult,” Tia said on a recent episode of “Tia & Tamera.” “It’s not a nice feeling when someone thinks that you’re pregnant when you’re not pregnant.”

It’s not just the fact that practically no woman in the world wants someone to point out her bulging belly, pregnant or not; Tia explained that those types of assumptions can potentially harm careers.

“I have to have my manager clarify if this is a rumor or not,” she said on the show, reminding viewers that her “Instant Mom” character is not supposed to be pregnant.

“People can talk and people can blog and all of that. I just don’t like when it affects what I do for a living,” she said.

For Tia, the rumors were motivation for her to kick up her workout regimen a notch. She even dragged Tamera Mowry-Housley along to a boot camp. Since then, Tia has posted a few photos of her very flat tummy and ripped abs to social media sites.

“I can’t have that mistake happen again. I can’t risk walking into a meeting and having executives think I’m pregnant,” she said.

Model Cynthia, of “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” quickly squashed rumors of her alleged pregnancy and shared that it was a medical issue causing her tummy to bulge a bit. The reality star/entrepreneur said fans would get more on the illness when season 6 airs.

As for Beyoncé, it took a photo of her drinking wine to convince fans that she wasn’t pregnant when the most recent baby bump rumors hit. Despite denials from her mom and husband, the gossip continued.

Jay-Z said: “It doesn’t matter how many times you [refute or confirm a story],’ people gonna believe what they want to believe anyway. So, why waste my time?”
