Like many of us, the cast and crew of “Scandal” believe that Kerry Washington was robbed at the Emmys last night.
We waited with anticipation as Kerry’s category was called during the telecast on Sunday night, and we were crushed when Claire Danes won the Emmy for Best Actress in a Drama. Don’t get us wrong: Claire does a great job on “Homeland,” but she’s got nothing on Kerry in “Scandal.”
Gladiators across the Web were quick to announce their disappointment over the decision, but Columbus became the unofficial spokesman for every “Scandal” fan that believes Kerry should have won the Emmy.
“Robbed. Robbed I tell you. ROBBED. @kerrywashington is without question the MOST OUTSTANDING. Well see you next year Emmys,” Columbus tweeted before issuing some instructions to “Scandal” fans everywhere. “@ScandalABC…See you #Gladiators Oct. 3rd lets show them who we are. #GladiatorsWontBeDenied @ScandalABC love you all…I wish I could of ran on stage and pulled a Kanye.#OkImDoneVenting #EmmyRobbery”
Shonda Rhimes wasn’t quite as explosive in her reaction. Instead, she tweeted, “Gonna get some wine and some popcorn and put on my white pajamas and just be fierce all over my living room. #gladiatorsdontcry.”
Kerry herself accepted the loss rather graciously, tweeting, “Great night! Every single woman in our category deserved to win! So happy for Claire ???? And ALL tonight’s winners & nominees! #grateful.”
That came as no surprise to Kerry’s onscreen boo Tony Goldwyn, who plays President Fitzgerald Grant on “Scandal.” See what he told one fan below.
