LaTavia RobersonFormer Destiny’s Child member LaTavia Roberson can’t quite pinpoint why there are so many R&B singers on reality TV, but she’s planning to become apart of that elite group of talented women soon.

“I’m in preproduction for my own reality show that I’m a producer for as well,” the new mom told Sister 2 Sister. “The premise is me and a couple of my friends that have been in girl groups before. We’re all on a show together and it’s about our lives and us making our climb back to where we need to be in our lives.”

That may sound a bit like another popular reality series, “R&B Divas” and its spinoff that air on TV One, but LaTavia said it’s not quite the same thing.

“I wouldn’t compare it to ‘R&B Divas’ because we all have known each other for years. We didn’t just meet on our show, but I’m definitely excited about the direction that the show has taken,” she said.

As exciting as that is, that pales in comparison to what really has LaTavia jumping for joy these days: her baby girl Lyric.

“It’s been very rewarding to me,” she said about motherhood. “It’s been a wonderful experience. The whole thing has just been great for me.”

Unlike some women who might experience difficulties bonding with their newborns, LaTavia said that was not something with which she struggled.

“That hasn’t been an issue for me at all,” she said. “There was a point in time that I was threatening a miscarriage. Once I first saw and heard her heartbeat, which was the deciding factor of whether I was going to be able to have my baby, I was instantly in love.”

LaTavia is working on a tell-all book. Get the details in the November 2013 issue of Sister 2 Sister.
