Blaque teased some new material during a listening session with the movers and shakers of Atlanta’s music scene at the 1st Annual Music Atlanta Conference.
A&R Executives Kevin Shine, Nicole Massiah and DJ Eddie F. successfully launched the first annual Music Atlanta Conference this past weekend.
The three-day event, geared toward R&B singers and songwriters, included several segments with some of the music industry’s premiere creative and business professionals. Their vision was to create a stronger sense of community and education with the primary focus on making better music.
“No disrespect If you’re trying to get on, but the way we got on is, we watched and we stepped up to the plate,” Kevin said. “We have people in this building that are legitimate executives that heard this and put the stamp on it. So when we pushed play tonight, it was really just to bring you all into our world.”
The kickoff night of MAC honored a unique set of individuals, that have in one way or another made their mark in the music industry such as Shanti Das, Ian Burke and Juanita Stephens, just to name a few. One of the highlights from the conference was the Hit-Makers Hangout session at Soul Asylum Studios hosted by Shamari DeVoe and Brandi Williams of the 90s hit girl group Blaque and Kevin Shine.
In case you didn’t know, these ladies are back and stronger than ever. With the anniversary of losing their late band mate Natina Reed quickly approaching, Shamari and Brandi managed to pull through in her honor and work on their upcoming album with an all-star production team that centered around producer Matty P and writer Lewis Rocc.
“If y’all don’t know Natina and Kurupt had a son together,” said Brandi. “That was really important [collaborating with Kurupt ] it was like having a piece of her on that record.”
Celebrities Ronnie DeVoe from New Edition and music executive MeMpHitz came through to support as these ladies celebrated their musical comeback with MAC. Hilarious moments to say the least!
