Chris Brown has offered to check himself into rehab to figure out what’s really going on in his life, according to his reps.
“We talked today and he said, ‘I want to take some time and do a little introspection and understand everything that’s going on around me,’” Chris’ attorney, Mark Geragos told The Daily News.
The singer was arrested early Sunday morning in Washington, D.C., after a 20-year-old accused Chris of punching him. After spending the night in jail and appearing in court Monday morning, Chris was released.
However, if he’s found guilty of the assault charges, he could be considered in violation of his probation that remains in effect after the ’09 incident with ex-girlfriend Rihanna.
Since that infamous ’09 altercation, Chris has allegedly been involved in bouts with rapper Drake and singer Frank Ocean. However, this marks the first time he’s volunteered for rehab.
“Why now? People have realizations at various times. Maybe sitting in a jail cell for 36 hours for something you didn’t do is enough to rock you a bit,” Mark said.
After the court appearance Monday, Chris took to Twitter to thank those who supported him, including Trey Songz, who attended the proceedings. S2S Publisher Jamie Foster Brown was on hand, too, and prayed with Chris and his family after the difficult morning.
“We ended the evening in prayer,” Jamie said. “He looked good and he was not the worse the wear. It was a good night. It was a prayerful night and a prayerful day.”
According to a statement, Chris has chosen to go through with the rehabilitation to “gain focus and insight into his past and recent behavior, enabling him to continue the pursuit of his life and his career from a healthier vantage point.”
