Just like in the original, Taye Diggs might be at the center of yet another storm in The Best Man Holiday.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. In The Best Man, a wedding weekend almost ended in disaster because of a confessional fiction that Taye’s character Harper based on his life and circle of friends.
Fourteen years later, Harper might be drawing some inspiration from real life yet again and that could cause some drama for the holidays.
“It’s interesting to see how when we all come together over this weekend in this same house how things just start exploding,” Sanaa Lathan said in a behind-the-scenes clip from The Best Man Holiday.
To be fair, things are already a little strained among the circle of college friends–particularly between Lance and Harper. “They are in touch, but it’s definitely not like it used to be,” said Taye.
Morris Chestnut, who plays Lance, suggests that some of the friction may be rooted in the fact that both he and Harper are facing their own serious personal issues.
“Lance is on the verge of breaking the rushing record in the league, I’m also going through some personal family struggles, ” said Morriss. “Harper at this stage is still struggling with his writing career, so he’s a little desperate at this point in this life. He does a few desperate things.”
