In retrospect, Porsha Stewart said her soon-to-be ex-husband was more like a father to her than a husband.
Though she functioned as a wife, she was in a dependent position as Kordell’s wife, having no resources of her own. She did not own the home with Kordell, nor was her name on his bank accounts.
“I thought that was what being a wife was,” she said in a “Real Housewives of Atlanta” preview, realizing that her dependency put her at a disadvantage in the marriage.
“I think it was more of a father,” she said of Kordell’s role. “That’s kind of what attracted me to him in a way.”
Porsha explained that her own father died when she was a teen and having a husband who wasn’t afraid to take charge was something she appreciated early on.
“My father died when I was 17 years old. My father always had a plan for his family. I trusted him to provide for me, and I thought that Kordell had that characteristic,” she said.
