Toya Wright was reportedly arrested and briefly detained Tuesday in Georgia after being pulled over for a routine traffic stop.
According to Corey Blackwell, who spoke to Rolling Out magazine, the entire incident was a “misunderstanding.”
Apparently, Toya was taken into custody after the officer uncovered a warrant for her arrest that allegedly resulted from unpaid parking tickets.
However, Corey said Toya had paid the fines, but the payments supposedly hadn’t been recorded.
The arrest was “based on something that was paid for but that wasn’t cleared out of the system,” he said. “We’re currently going over it with the lawyers.”
Unfortunately, the arrest happened on Toya’s husband’s birthday. Earlier the day, she tweeted, “Happy Birthday to a person that is not only my husband, but my best friend too…”
TMZ reports that Toya, a reality star and ex-wife of rapper Lil Wayne, was released early Wednesday morning on $290 bail.
Neither Toya or hubby MeMpHiTz Wright have publicly commented on the incident yet.
