Phaedra Parks gloated a bit in a recent episode of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” when she and NeNe Leakes returned to their hometown, considering it proof that that the two knew one another in high school, but NeNe still denies that she and Phaedra were friends.
“What is Phaedra’s problem?” NeNe asked. “Please show me where in this episode I acknowledge that I knew her back in my Athens days. I’m still waiting. You haven’t found it yet? It doesn’t exist!”
NeNe and Phaedra have disputed their youthful interactions since Phaedra joined the cast. While NeNe admits she knew of Phaedra, she maintains that she did not know Phaedra who was years behind her in school.
“Did I know Phaedra when I was in high school, NO! I say clearly on this episode that I am the class of ’85. Chuck says he’s the class of ’88 and the innocent Phaedra is the class of ’89,” NeNe explained. “Think about high school!…What senior hangs out with an 8th grader?”
Both women have been adamant about their perspectives on this subject. Phaedra has never backed down from claims that she and NeNe knew one another, and NeNe persists in her POV that they did not.
“I do not practice lying, and in this case there’s no need for it,” said NeNe. “What would I get out of saying I didn’t know her if I did know her?”
NeNe seemed confused as to why Phaedra continues to bring up the topic of their alleged high school relationship, but she hopes the entertainment attorney is satisfied with the co-star status they now share.
“I’m not sure why it means so much to Phaedra for me to say I knew her, but if it helps you to move on, Phaedra, I can truly say I know you now,” said NeNe. “I still haven’t met your mother or father and I have never been to your home ever, but I know exactly who you are.”
