‘Boondocks’ season 4 premiere date announced

WR_Boondocks_061711.jpg“Boondocks” fans anxiously awaiting the return of the animated series will have to wait a bit longer…but not much.

The show, based on the comic strip created by Aaron McGruder, is scheduled to return to Adult Swim in April, according to a new 15-second promo.

Some fans thought the new season was premiering this month, but the network is currently re-airing previous episodes.

The new episodes begin April 21 t 10:30 p.m. EST.

Though some fans thought season 3 would be the last, stars Regina King and John Witherspoon began dropping hints about a new season back in 2012 and last year they shared photos via social media that supported the news.

According to Regina, a “Boondocks” film may not be too far off, either.

“I’m pretty sure [Aaron has] done a rough draft of where he’d want the movie to go,” Regina told “Sway in the Morning” back in 2012.  “I’d like to venture out there and say you’ll see the show and a movie.”
