Evelyn Lozada isn’t sure how she’ll do as a mom since she hasn’t had to think about raising a baby in two decades.
The “Basketball Wives” star said that she feels like a first time mom all over again. Evelyn’s got a grown daughter, but she’s seeing that being a mom has become a completely different ball game since Shaniece was in diapers.
“Okay, so we all know the last time I gave birth was over 20 years ago with my daughter Shaniece. Currently, I’m seven months pregnant and every time I look at my belly, I still can’t believe it,” she wrote in an open letter on QueMas.com.
“A lot has changed in the world of babies since the last time I gave birth–back then,” Evelyn wrote.”For instance, I had NO idea that baby food now comes in pouches and I didn’t know that you can now purchase organic baby food!”
Then she launched into the sensitive topic of whether or not she plans on breastfeeding her new baby. Whether you’re for it or against it, the issue has divided people into some camps that vehemently argue their positions. Some believe that if you don’t do it, then you’re probably the worst mother in the world. Although it is a personal decision, Evelyn shared that she’s not likely to breastfeed.
“Twenty years ago, breastfeeding wasn’t the thing to do. Now I’m getting all of this advice about breastfeeding and how to do it and breast pumps!” Evelyn revealed. “Still, to be totally honest, I’m not sure that I want to go the breastfeeding route this time around.”
The reality star admits that she’s so overwhelmed that she’s asking her friends for mommy advice, and they’re giving her lots to consider. “There are so many things I have to learn (or re-learn) before my blessing is born,” Evelyn wrote. “I love that I’m able to go through the process of being pregnant and becoming a mom all over again.”
Despite the challenges of being a mom in the new millennium, Evelyn’s excited for what this new baby means to her. She explained, “This really represents a new beginning to me and as a more mature mother, I plan to do a host of new things with my second child.”
