The women of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” aren’t always on the same page, but when it comes to Chuck Smith, there doesn’t seem to be one who has a high opinion of him.
“I thought it was disgusting,” Porsha Stewart told RadarOnline.com about the way Chuck insulted her co-stars and belittled his past involvement with them. “Even if that’s how he felt then, you’re supposed to grow as a person. So you would think him being a grown man with a wife and kids now, he would know better than to say something like that to a mother and wife.”
The former NFL player was introduced to the show through NeNe Leakes who welcomed Chuck’s wife Mynique Smith into the “RHOA” circle; however, things went left when Mynique started asking about Phaedra Parks’ and Kandi Burruss’ past relationships with Chuck.
It seems Mynique relayed their stories to her husband who defended himself by describing the women as groupies. Kandi explained that their relationship was much more than that, and Mama Joyce has cosigned.
“He was like a son to me when they were dating,” Joyce told Essence.com. “He got on there and told the biggest lie he ever told. I was so shocked. I really liked Chuck.”
Chuck apparently liked Mama Joyce, too, or at least her cooking. He repeatedly commented on how well Kandi’s family fed him when Kandi was part of his “team.”
Apparently Chuck had told Mynique that his relationship with Kandi wasn’t very deep, but Mama Joyce didn’t see it that way.
“His mother and father and myself all used to go out to dinners together. He took us out to Cirque du Soleil. I’ve even spent the night at Chuck’s house. Kandi had keys to his house. Would you let a jump off’s mother keep your daughter over the weekend more that two times?” she asked.
While it didn’t seem to mean much to Chuck, Mama Joyce said she thought Kandi and Chuck were in love.
“He was so in love with Kandi; he would call me even after she quit him. I don’t know what made him say that. I mean it was 20 years ago,” she said. “I don’t know whether he was trying to get on the show or what but I’m so disappointed in him.”
