Back by popular demand, Nick Cannon confirmed that he’s working on a sequel to his 2002 hit Drumline.
“It’s officially happening,” Nick said on “Charlamagne & Friends.”
Nick starred in the film as a authority-shirking freshman percussionist who had to be taught a thing or two about humility and team work in the classic movie, but he won’t be front and center this time around.
“I’m not in it. I’m just producing it, but I may make a cameo,” said the “Real Husbands of Hollywood” star.
Nick didn’t shed much light on the storyline, but he said it will set up the scenario for a TV series about Black college life, something viewers have been missing since “A Different World” left the airwaves in 1993.
“My whole goal is to do the “Drumline” TV show, so this movie then goes into the storyline of what the “Drumline” TV show is about,” he said.
Unlike “A Different World,” Nick said the show may include some more musical elements.
“It’s really going to be about that Black college experience through music. So, it’s going to be pretty hot,” he said.
