Most of us know Angie Stone as the soul singer, who started in Hip-Hop with the group The Sequence and her solo efforts “No More Rain (In This Cloud),” and and “Brotha.”
The mother of two has transplanted her talents into television and film on VH-1’s “Celebrity Fit Club” as well as the stage production of Chicago on Broadway. She is a no-nonsense diva among others in “R&B Divas: Atlanta.” Now Angie lends herself to the role of Marlene, aka Mom Dukes in the new film Dreams.
“I play the mother of the lead character in the film,” Angie said. “It’s so interesting because when they called me to be apart of the film, I was just so blown away because just having the baby boy of the Winans doing a film just blew my mind.” Angie is referring to Vickie and Marvin Winans’s son, Marvin, Jr. “God is really good because my first love was acting because I was a drama student and now my son is a drama student,” she said.
Angie lets us in on an upcoming venture with Jamie Foxx. “I’m actually getting ready to do a movie that Jamie Foxx is directing,” she said. “I actually play the lead in the movie. It’s called Melodies From Heaven.”
Angie Stone talks about her new direction in the April 2014 issue of Sister 2 Sister.
