Sanaa Lathan talks ‘Love & Basketball’ sequel

TWitPics_Sanaa_112113Sanaa Lathan wasn’t sure there was more to The Best Man story when director Malcolm Lee first began considering a sequel, and she feels the same way about Love & Basketball.

“The story was kind of complete in my mind,” she told about Love & Basketball. However, she admits she had the same thoughts about Best Man Holiday which reunited the entire cast from the 1999 film.

Filmmaker/director Malcolm is reportedly working on a third Best Man film, and Sanaa said she’s ready for it. “Yes! Absolutely, as long as I’m not pregnant again,” she said referring to her character who was nine months pregnant in the sequel.

In the meantime, Sanaa is currently working on the psychological thriller Repentance with Forest Whitaker and Anthony Mackie. The movie has been described as a Black version of Stephen King’s Misery.

“We definitely haven’t seen a lot of psychological thrillers with Black people. We get scared, too,” said Sanaa. “We really want to see ourselves in all kinds of situations whether it’s comedy or drama or scary thriller,” she said.

Sanaa talks more about Repentance and her relationship with Eartha Kitt. Watch.
