Kenya Moore’s charity event, at which NeNe Leakes caused a stir by very tersely addressing the crowd, was supposedly organized to raise money for Saving Our Daughters.
However, the charity has released a statement clarifying that it received no money from the televised party.
“Kenya Moore stated that thousands of dollars were raised at this event. To protect the integrity of Saving Our Daughters, our records show that we did not receive any of the proceeds raised from Ms. Moore’s masquerade ball,” the posting read.
Apparently, Saving Our Daughters received inquiries about the event and donations after being mentioned in a recent episode of “Real Housewives of Atlanta.” Kenya told her co-stars that the party was a fundraiser for the charity and NeNe was an honoree at the event.
Saving Our Daughters assured its contributors that it would have rolled out the red carpet for NeNe if things had been done correctly.
“Had we been made aware that this fundraising even was in honor of Mrs. Leakes, we certainly would have been present with the plaques and certificates of appreciation that we currently have to present to Mrs. Leakes,” read the statement. “The light in which Saving Our Daughters was depicted was less than favorable.”
