Arsenio Hall accepts Brian Williams’ apology

Arsenio_HallArsenio Hall has graciously accepted an apology from newsman Brian Williams who omitted the late-night host from a list of those littering the after-11 TV landscape.

On Monday, while viewers prepped for Jimmy Fallon’s debut as the host of “The Tonight Show,” NBC listed Carson Daly, Stephen Colbert, David Letterman, Andy Cohen and others as those who already host nighttime shows.

Arsenio didn’t let the mistake go unnoticed. On his show Tuesday, he let the news anchor know exactly how he felt about the omission.

“If you’re doing a story about late night, all I ask is that you mention me. You don’t even have to use a photo,” Arsenio joked before encouraging his audience to call NBC and complain.

Arsenio clarified that his issue was not with his fellow late-night hosts, but with the journalists who neglected to acknowledge him. Arsenio pointed out that his contribution to TV history isn’t to be overlooked.

“I actually am the only person who competed and survived against Johnny Carson,” he said about “The Tonight Show” host who preceded Jay Leno.

On Wednesday, Brian took the high road and apologized to Arsenio, while pointing out some other recent mistakes made by the network’s news team.

“In apologizing to Arsenio we just wanted to point out: At least you’re in good company here,” said Brian.

Arsenio not only accepted Brian’s apology, he extended an invitation to Brian, welcoming him to the show.
